Forget Me Not goes through the stages of a break up. ‘The choice was once your choosing’ is a reference to the time before he made his choice to leave. He was still ‘choosing’ meaning he was still with her. ‘Before losing became my loss’ describes the place where he was still hers and although she was losing him, she hadn’t lost him yet. ‘I was there in your forgetting—’ Although she had lost him by this stage, she is still there in his ‘forgetting,’ (his memories of her). ‘Until I was forgot.’ Now he has completely moved on and forgotten her. She ceases to exist in his world.
